| Stalker
for percussion solo (1990)
13 minutes
no.5
The solo performer in Stalker is surrounded by 43
different percussion instruments, using various mallets and
pedals to operate the musical installation. Stalker
concentrates on sound rather then on rhythm. New percussion
sounds were created by means of vertical configurations (“chords”).
By treating these sound configurations as reoccurring fixed
entities they become recognizable items in a stream of elements.
Stalker consists of ten movements of various short
lengths. Movements 1 to 5 are played ‘attacca’
(without interruption), and so are movements 6 & 7, and
8 to 10.
